Alex Harrap’s life drawing has a unique style, both expressive and abstracted. He describes the human figure with energetic pencil marks that convey fluidity and energy. Alex creates the skeleton of the piece economically, subsequently marking-in the details of light and shade using his own dynamic graphic language.
“I mean to describe the process of looking around the figure as if your eyes are an extension of your pencil tip almost never taking your eye from the subject and letting your pencil flow across the page. This way of drawing allows you to apply weight and pressure to your lines as they navigate shadow and definition across the paper.”
